Amy inspired Sophie Varela

I was looking around for Amy Whinehouse photographs and i came across these paintings created by a Designer Called Sophie Varela...they remind me of Amy with the over the top beehive hair doo.

Sophie Varela was born in 1981. She lives and works in Paris, France. After getting her diploma in Art and Multimedia in 2004, she decided to become an independent freelance illustrator. Varela uses traditional techniques, including watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pencil.

I love the way she uses paint to create the feel of texture.

Amy

Recently since Amy Whinehouse's death, I've been watching allot of documentaries about her life. She was an icon in the music world, bringing blues back to fashion again. She inspires allot of people, not just for her music, but for her fashion sense and her whole uniqueness. She was one of a kind.

She inspired me to have a go at creating a design in a Katherine Asher style.
I created an image of Amy Whinehouse in the same technique Katherine uses.
As shown below.

I used water colours plus pen for the thick lines.
I feel my image has worked very well.

Illustration - Katharine Asher

The reasons for starting this blog late was last year i wasn't in the right frame of mind. I had loads of personal reasons (which is no excuse) however now is a fresh start! I regret not doing my very best through my uni cause last year but now i feel 100% positive towards it all... I am going to carry on doing this blog because i feel it will help me recognise my flaws and also what I'm recognising within the art world.

on a fresh not hear is some information on Katharine asher:

Katharine Asher has worked as a freelancer within illustration, film and design for many years, specialising in figurative work. Her training at Harrow College of Art was mainly focused on strong traditional drawing skills, the ability to think in three dimensions and a thorough understanding of anatomy and movement. She has attracted work from a wide variety of commercial sources from publishing and advertising to film.

Katharine's main clients include:
* Muller Rice * Clairol hair Products * Heaven Chocolates * BBC * Collision films * Aardman Animation * Bolex Films etc * Pulse Films

I love the way Katharine uses the mixture of water colour affect with a thick black line. Also i love how simple she uses the paint with just simple shapes all most...and it gives off such an affective realistic feel also...it almost looks flowy like :)

In the past i have used this technique she uses with water colour  with a strong line and i really love the out comes of it.
